April 2011 - more new developments

The new platform at 'Uphill' has been completed. Having run out of black cement dye, had to surface it with a white/black (roughly 1 part to 3) of cement paint. This is not as good as self colouring the cement, as any chips/scratches will show through to the light cement colour!

The new station building (Modeltown - nice one Keith!) has been installed, together with the usual other station fittings. The trackwork did not need any alteration, as a passing loop was put in right from the start. Plenty of pics in the galleries.

Spring 2011

Nice to be able to get out and work on the railway again. The winter of 2010/2011 has caused considerable damage to much of the cement - especially the miniature walls - which also suffered in the previous winter. Lots of remedial work to do here.

Decided to enlarge 'Uphill' station and put in a second platform - have just finished the rather fine new station building - see picture gallery 'buildings' This is not yet in postion as the new platform and retaining walls are not finished yet. No change to the trackwork was needed as 'Uphill' already had a 'passing loop'

Also decided to enlarge the very small station at 'Lakeside' basically to accomodate slightly longer trains. This meant extending the length of the 'run round', which meant making a curved point on the approach. Lots of work still to do here too, but the new (longer) platform is in place, and the new trackwork complete.

Just finished a new rake of IP engineering coaches to go behind the new loco - an Accucraft 'Caradoc' - much modified and now called 'Minerva'. Plenty of photos of both in the picture gallery.
